Lord, may the life we lead
in our communities
testify to the faith
on which our lives are built.
Give us boldness
in sharing your gospel,
naming your presence
and offering your love.
Help us to be
ambassadors of your kingdom,
bringing new life to bear
where we are.

as your disciples,
to journey together,
to share your gospel,
to announce your kingdom,
to celebrate your sacraments

May it never be
that we put others to sleep;
rather let your message
encourage and enthuse

of the ministry of your angels
to guard and protect us,
to announce your kingdom,
to sing your praise.
Make us ready
to entertain your angels,
even if unawares.
May we emulate them
by embracing our call
to be messengers
of your gospel

whether we’re longstanding disciples
or new to faith,
whether we’re old hands at what we do
or newly-minted in our role or ministry,
give us boldness to share your gospel;
not to cajole but to persuade,
not for ourselves
but to show your love, light and life.

Infiltrate our hearts and minds, Lord;
so infuse us with your love,
that it overflows in and into
all we do, all we say, and all we are.
Keep us from reducing our discipleship
to practices we observe and rules we keep;
rather help us manifest your kingdom to all.

for the gift of your Holy Spirit
to inspire and equip us
on the way of discipleship.

in disagreement,
help us also find ways
to resolve or transform our conflict
into new growth;
if we cannot reconcile views,
then enable us to grow
in respect for each other,
faithfulness to your kingdom,
and understanding of your love.

In the midst of difficult times, Lord,
when the realities of life
are gritty and rough,
remind us that we are your Church,
called to share your love with all.
Help us to seek your guidance,
discern your wisdom,
encourage one another,
and shine your light, brightly.

into your love, grace, and truth;
keep us from seeking
to constrain the gift you give us
by making a cage of our rules
in which to live it.
Remind us always
to seek your leading and guidance
in all things;
may our wisdom

that it cannot help but overflow
to those around us,
and especially to those
whom you call us to help.
Let us never be tempted
to accept adulation for ourselves;
rather help us always

to hear anew from you,
as you refresh
our faith and understanding
and take us beyond
what we already know.
Remind us daily
of our call to journey with you;
help us not to get too comfortable,

that we may walk in your light,
be filled with your light,
and shine with your light for all to see;
that we may draw others to you,

you strive for our wellbeing;

vision and faith,
that we may know your way
from other ways,
the truth of your call
from the lures of falsehoood
and self-deception.

to recognise those
who use others
for their own selfish ends,
even when they are dressed
in the robes of respectability
and authority.
Give us discernment
to see the true motivations
of others and ourselves,
and pursue that
which expresses your love.

impacted or imprisoned
by the evils of the world,
such as greed, jealousy,
lust for power, disregard for life;
remind us always
that the truth of your love
is greater than all,
and the truth will set us free.
Release our hearts
to share your love.

to speak of your love
to all people, Lord;
not just to those who are ‘like us’,
but to those who are different,
in whatever way.
May we rejoice
in the diversity of your family,
the uniqueness of each person,
and the life we share together.

and ready to hear of your working
in the lives of others.
Let us never be so fossilised
in our own opinions
that we fail to be receptive
to the new things
you are doing among us.

you have rejoiced and delighted
at the diversity of your Church
and shared the good news
of your love and life with all.
Fill us with that same love and life
as we rejoice in diversity
and long for all to be included
