to share the good news
of your kingdom, Lord, with all.
May we proclaim
Christ crucified and risen:
not just with our words,
but with all that we are,
that the brightness of your kingdom
may shine through us every day
for all to see.

may we bear abundantly
the fruit of the Spirit

that we offer you
by doing it,

from those things

for the light of your kingdom,
the grace which fires
your mission of love

Keep us awake
to your presence among us;
your working within, between,

what are the particular vocations

you would have us be,
that we may be
fitted for your kingdom,
living lives that are
ever more love-shaped
and Christlike.
Give us grace
to know your call upon us,

you have adopted us
as children of your covenant,
heirs of your promises,
sisters and brothers together,
the royal family of your kingdom.
Help us day by day
to show to others what that means,
as we love, serve and encourage all

and surround us with your protection;
may we know the peace of your kingdom
as we seek to spread
the good news of your love,

the priorities of the gospel.
Like Columba,
give us a devotion
to building one another up in faith,
and sharing your love
with those among whom we are set,
which transcends our own egos

sin is defeated,
death has lost its sting,
love wins.
Yet our human nature
is yet to catch up;
we can end up
making bad choices
despite our desire
to live for you.
If we do,
pick us up,
dust us off,
and love us
back to life,
we pray.

Help us, Lord,
not to remain wedded
to the desire for the Law,
as checklists of behaviours,
of rigid patterns
that remove our agency
and stifle our conscience.
Teach us instead to rejoice
in our freedom
to choose loving responses
that flow from
your working in us.

Remind us daily, Lord,
that we are citizens
of your kingdom
before we belong to
anywhere, anyone,
or anything else.
Give us boldness
and confidence
to share the good news
of your love for us,
and to uphold the dignity
of each person,
for all are made
in your image.

from enslavement
to all that is opposed
to your kingdom;
enable us to be
willingly and lovingly
bound to your service.
Like Boniface,
may we gladly
take your yoke upon us
and learn from you,
that through our service

in us and among us,
through your Spirit.
Strengthen us
against the temptations
of sinfulness,
