our knowledge of you

Help us to be disciples,
learning to follow you

we should tell you our plans for our lives;
though often that’d be as likely
to make you weep.
Free us from our desire to be in control,
and instead release us into your service;
help us to listen and follow you.

help us to let go of greed and envy,
to sit light to the desire
for the treasures of the world,
and to yearn for the treasure
of your kingdom.
Let us not be possessed
by a lust for possessing,
but filled with the joy

our writing and our tweeting, Lord;
let the things we say,
whether verbal or written,
whether face to face
or written and sent,
be full of love not hate;
edifying, not destructive.
Help us use our words
