Give us hearts, Lord,
that seek to serve you,
to serve your kingdom,
to serve one another,
to serve the common good.
Keep us from being
judgemental or self-serving;
give us the gift of humility
in light of your great love,
that our lives
may show that love,
to all.

with the light
of your kingdom,
with Christlikeness;
renew our hearts,
that we may
discard the darkness
of ego and selfishness,

embrace our call
to be your disciples,

By your cross, Lord,
you tear open the veil
between us and your love;
in your resurrection,
the life of your kingdom
bursts into the world;
by the gift of your Spirit,

as your people.
Help us tear down the walls
we erect between us,
and be one.

to be a Christlike people;
form us,
that your image
may be revealed
in our lives.
Make us
a people of love,
honouring you
in one another.

fullness of life

to the needs
of our neighbour,

those near to us

from the temptation
to turn anger or wrath
over issues,
into desire for revenge.
Help us to separate the need
for holding one another

from our propensity

in the world,
in our nations,
in our communities
and in our own lives,
Lord, remind us
and reassure us
that there is nothing
in all creation
that can separate us
from your love,

in this promise

from our propensity to desire
that which we know to be wrong;
strengthen our spirits
to resist the temptation

from a mere
enslavement
to lists of rules
and regulations,
in which righteousness
becomes something
we try to earn.
Inspire us instead,
by your Spirit,

for the wellbeing
and unity
