in the people around us
to know more of you;
keep us open

that we may be ready
to share you, your story,
your blessings, your love,
with all who seek you,
your wholeness,
your kingdom,
your peace.

in your own image.
You know each of us
better than
we know ourselves,
and you value us
even to the cost
of yourself.
So inspire us,
that our lives may tell
the story of your love,
and our voices resound
with your message
of new life for all.

a share in
your compassion
for all whom
you long to reach
with your love;
may our hearts
be open today
to hear your call,
see opportunities,
and know your invitation
to join in your mission
of life and hope,
justice and peace,
to neighbours in need.

Lord, King of all Creation,
you are intimately concerned
for each of us,
for your Body
of which we are members.
Give us the wholeness
by which we know your kingdom,
the vision to see your way,
the voice to speak your word,

your kingship today, Lord,
remind us of your character;
help us to emulate you
in our relationships
and structures.
Remind us
of your kenotic leadership,
manifest in the crib;
of your servant leadership,
manifest on the cross;
of our call to follow.

to focus on those aspects
of our lives and being
that need your healing,
rather than on the things
we perceive to need ‘fixing’.
May we seek
not a return to Eden,
but a pilgrimage
of and to your kingdom
that we may know
the wholeness

the turbulence
and uncertainty
of life, Lord,
among the pressures
and tensions of a
fragmenting world,
infuse our lives
with your calming,
healing Spirit.
Draw us
into the peace
of your kingdom,
the assurance
of your love;

Fill our hearts, Lord,
with faith and assurance
that all we need
is to be found in you.
Draw us to yourself,
and guide us

in your desire and power

to shalom, in you;

between a mere fixing

in the ways
that we should go;
keep our focus
firmly on you,
and our foundations
firmly in you,
that we may be
rooted and grounded

forming our opinions,
making our decisions,
or rushing to judgments
based on our
limited perspectives
and our partial understanding.
Keep us prayerful;
always open to your guidance,
always ready to follow your lead,
that we may love

our living and loving,
this day, Lord;
grant that
we might be caught up
in the worship of heaven
and so glimpse your glory.
May we glimpse that glory
in your image,
borne by our neighbour;

as we take our part

of the transience
and fragility
of material wealth,
of its capacity
to be removed
or revalued,
damaged
or destroyed
in an instant.
Help us put our faith
not in such things,
but in you, in your love,

on following your call,
the call of your kingdom,
rather than a call
to impress others,
the call of the world.
Recall us to
our identity in you,

to expose evil
with a commitment to love,
to shame hatred
with a passion for peace,
to undermine injustice

Encourage and empower us

not just our actions
but also our thoughts;
not just our deeds

May our motivation
in all things
be your will,

to be agents

Instil in us, Lord,
deep in our being,
the assurance
that we are
your people,
your children.
Save us
from those things
which would seek
to take your place
in our lives;
from the lusts
for wealth, power
or control,
which turn us in
on ourselves,
away from
your love.

Fill us, Lord,
with your Spirit and grace;
use us to make straight your way
in the lives of those around us,
as we live out, and work for,
your justice, mercy, and love.
Remind us always
of your solidarity with us
in our baptism,
and our call
to live your kingdom.

Lord, save us,
save all people,
save the world,
from the anger and wrath
that would kill innocents
in pursuit of its own cause;
from the backlash
of bruised and belittled egos.
Help us also,
to see when
we are being Herods,
even in small ways,
and turn us to peace.

Lord, open our
hearts, minds,
souls and lives,
to your guidance
and your leading;
give us the faith
and courage
to follow.
Draw us to yourself,
and as we
encounter you today,
especially in
unexpected
people and places,
may we rejoice,

for your leading

rare commodities,

and honesty

to expediency

Work in us

to follow you, Lord,
even in difficult and
dangerous times;
fill up our faith and
strengthen our spirits
that we may own you
before others;

even in the face
of the world’s opposition,
to be who we are:
people made in your image,
