or power for ourselves,

and wholeness in you;

Take from us the desire
to possess for ourselves;

of your glory

not the false peace of the world,
seeking to quell
our anxieties and fears
with the analgesics
of power, position,
possessions or prestige;
but the true peace you offer,

the storm, Lord Jesus,
so still our hearts,
and still the turmoil of the world,
with your call to peace;
by your Holy Spirit,
give us the strength and courage
to work for the wellbeing of all people.
May the light of your kingdom
shine in all we are.

of your grace, Lord Jesus,

not only with your presence
but also with your forgiveness,
your love, your wisdom,

from joining in with
the world’s game
of divisiveness, enmity,
rivalry and hatred.
Fill us rather with your
loving, healing, reconciling Spirit,

to bridge division,
to build relationship,

By the power of your love,
Lord Jesus, you will overcome
all that seeks to resist
the purposes and promises
of your kingdom,
even death itself.
In the joy of this Easter season,
may we embrace the new life you offer,
and live out your love

to seek you and your blessings
among those whom
the world despises:
the poor, the hungry,
the bereft, the persecuted,
the people sent away
by the comfortable,

Turn us from
a message of division

with your love, Lord Jesus;
let our understanding of your will
never be blocked
by the traditions and rules
that we discern for ourselves,
but rather let us be led by your Spirit,

the gifts of wisdom and discernment,
that we may make choices today
that are consistent with your will,
