You create us, Lord,
in your own image
with our own creativity,
our own freedom,
our own propensity to love.
Help us to remain ever open
to your self-giving love
that we in turn may love like you,
offering ourselves
to the building of peace,
to the blessing of all.

Instil in us, Lord,
a faith and trust in you,
in your love, in your grace,
that keeps us open
to your guidance, your call,
and your challenge
to allow our human
and worldly perspectives
to be expanded
by the vision
of your kingdom,
your purposes,
and your promises.

Whatever we face in life, Lord,
whether good or bad, easy or tough,
happy or sad, pleasant or rough,
we face not alone, but with you,
for you neither leave us
nor forsake us,
come what may.
In all we encounter in life,
and even in death,
your love is our constant.

the justice, peace
and wholeness
of your kingdom
prevail among us;
we yearn for release
from the impact and effect
of our turning in on ourselves,
away from our neighbour
and away from you.
Guide us to hear your call;

a growing understanding
of your delight in us,
of your welcome to us,
of your embracing us
as your family.
Divert us from a focus
on that which does not last;
draw us rather

lift our perspective
beyond the merely material
concerns and passions
for wealth, power, control,
and domination.
Open us more and more
to the promise of your love
and the way of your kingdom,
that we may pursue peace,

we can be so set in our ways,
so stuck in the rut of routine,
that we struggle to comprehend
the freshness of your call
and the creativity of your working.
Open our hearts, minds and lives anew
to the pulse of your love;
draw us closer to you.

Steer us away, Lord,
from a path on which
our lives are ensnared
by the enticements
of selfish gain and
selfish ambition,
at the expense
of everyone else.
Guide us rather
on the path of peace,
of seeking
the mutual wellbeing
of the common good,
of living your love.

In a world that so often
seems obsessed with
power and profit, Lord,
inspire us to be
builders of peace.
May we be
catalysts for community
and restorers of relationship.
May we wield your wisdom
rather than our
weapons of war,
as we work for
your justice,
your way.

and enable us, Lord,
to present ourselves to you,
ready to hear and follow
your leading in our lives.
Draw us ever into your way;

In the sacrament of baptism, Lord,
we die to our old life without you,
and rise to your new life,
with your love, your grace,

Keep us true to
the way of your kingdom,
that our lives may shine

to celebrate the sacrament
of your body and blood,
to find our shared
communion with you,
that we may be
nourished and nurtured
in your risen life,
enabled to become what we eat;
your body in the world,

a faith like that of Abraham,
who, though he did not
know the destination,
knew that the way
he must take
was your way,
and followed your call
to journey on,
with your love and grace
as his guide.

to journey with you,

that we earn our worth
through our own actions
and achievements;
that we can do so,
or need to do so.
Give us rather
a fuller understanding of,
a fuller faith in,

three persons yet one in perfect love,
