Deflect our hearts
and minds, Lord,
from a preoccupation
with the temporalities
of human kingdoms,
the empires that we seek
to build for ourselves.
Turn us instead to pursue
the eternalities of your kingdom,
that we may share a passion
for justice, mercy and peace.
