Speak into our lives, Lord,
your words of
release and freedom;
release us from those fears
which hold back
our speaking of you,
of the new life you offer
and the love that you share.
Use our lives
to proclaim that love,
that new life,
that all may know
your peace.

the same spirit
of wisdom
and gentleness
that you showed
to those in need
of your healing
and grace;
the same spirit
that characterised
the life of
your bishop Aidan.
May we walk
with one another
as you walk with us,
and reveal
new life

Transform us, Lord,
by the working
of your love
in the depths
of our being,
to align our hearts
with your heart,
and our wills
with your will.

innermost desires
be for your kingdom,
that its new life
may course through us,
and overflow

of the true nature
of discipleship;

you are Lord of Life,

the clamour of the world

from those
wants and desires
which play to
our selfishness;
keep us from
becoming slaves
to greed,
to acquisition,
to possessiveness,
to the craving for more.
Give us rather
the gifts of joy
and contentment
in ‘enough’,

your blessings.

Fill us, Lord,
with your wisdom;
guide not only our actions
but also our words,
that our tongues
may voice your praise
in all we say.
May our ambition
be for your glory,
not our own:
grant us to speak
gentleness and peace,
mercy and truth,
and to live them
for all.
