Fill us with faith and vision, Lord,
that we may both
recognise you and your activity
within us and among us,
and also
point people
away from ourselves
and towards you
in all we do, all we say,
all we think and all we are.
May we be beacons
of your kingdom
for all.

Fill us, Lord,
with your Spirit and your love,
from the core of our being
to the tips of our hairs.
So infuse us with your kingdom,
that we cannot help pointing
away from our selves, our egos,
and towards you.
May we always
enable and encourage others
to know you.

Give us eyes
to behold your glory, Lord,
in Crib, on Cross
and through your image
in each person.
Teach us to recognise
your presence
and your activity
among us,
that we may
witness to your light,
and receive you as our Lord,
showing truth to power
and love to all.

Free us, Lord, to approach you
with child-like joy and enthusiasm,
with the trust that takes a parent’s hand.
Guide us also, that in our life as your church
we may not put obstacles in the way for others,
but make straight and level the paths
for all who seek you.

Illuminate our path
with the light
of your kingdom, Lord,
that we may know
the way you call us to go,
and be guided by you
as we seek to follow it.
May our lives be rooted
in your will, your word and your ways,
that we may travel
hopefully, joyfully, and lovingly.

You humbled yourself
to be born as one of us, Lord;
stooping to earth,
to lift us to you.
Give us grace, like Stephen,
to offer ourselves in your service;
to be so filled with your love
that we overflow to all around us;
to love and pray
even for those who hurt us.

In Bethlehem, Lord,
those who gave shelter
to the Holy Family
had only the meagreness
of a manger to offer;
those who came
to worship the Christ-child
were called from
the margins of society.
Help us welcome you today
with whatever we have to offer,
whoever we are.

Remind us, Lord,
that we should approach your kingdom
and receive your love
with the awe and wonder,
the trust and the openness
of a child‘s heart.
Never let world-weariness,
jadedness or ego
get in the way.
Root out from among us
anything that damages such hearts.

You come to us, our Lord,
Emmanuel, God with us,
as our king.
You teach us
the ways of your kingdom,
you bring hope for all people.
May we know you
as Lord and Saviour,
rejoicing as you set us free
to show your love,
shine your light,
and share your life

your peace and your presence,
in the depths of our being,
that our faith may be the outworking

that we may be led
not by our own desires
but by the desires of your heart;
not by our own passions
but by your love;
not by every fickle wind
but by the wind of your Spirit;
not by our own wisdom
but always by the wisdom

and let that love overflow to all around us,
that all may know of your love for them.
Keep us diligent in the task of prayer
for one another and for all people,
as we share in your work among us,
the mission of your kingdom.

the truth of your love for every person,
each wonderfully made in your image;
the truth of your kingdom
and its values of justice, mercy, peace;
the truth of your grace,

as brothers and sisters

the promises of your kingdom
