Risen, ascended Lord,
you call us and challenge us
to reveal your kingdom
in the way we are
and the lives we live,
that we may
reflect and channel
your love to all.
Let us pray,
in our hearts,
by our lives,
for our communities
and for our world,
“Thy kingdom come”.

Lord, as we recall the welcome
of your mother by Elizabeth,
may we share in the response
of joy from her and her baby
to your presence with us.
May we hear your call
in Mary’s Magnificat,
to strive for the
justice and peace
of your kingdom
also to be seen
among us.

Divert us, Lord,
from the temptation
to pursue our own interests
at the expense of others,
to live our lives
by greed for selfish gain.
Let us instead
seek the common good,
pursuing peace,
offering kindness,
living out your love,
recognising all
as our neighbours.

you showed your disciples
that you carry your wounds
in your risen body,
embracing our human woundedness
in the new life of your kingdom.
As you ascended,
and carried that woundedness
into the heart of your divinity,
your welcome to us all shines out.

and stamina of spirit
that equips us to stand up
for the justice of your kingdom,
to pursue the peace you offer,
to live out your love for all people.
Give us your resolve
to work for the wellbeing of all,

our wills and our desires
upon the wealth
of your kingdom, Lord,
and not upon the wealth
of earthly selfishness and greed.
Lift our focus to desire a world
which puts people above possessions;

the eagerness and energy,
the courage and confidence,
to pursue what is right, what is good,
what builds up and blesses others;

for one another,
with love which
echoes your love
for every person,
that we may honour
your image in everyone,

which turn us in on ourselves
and make our lives narrow;
fill us rather with desire
to know and share your love,

those self-centred
and self-serving traits
which mar your image in us;
help us instead to fashion our lives
on the foundation of your love,
anchored in your grace,
alive with your presence,

of your love, your grace,
your mercy and your justice,
as we place our trust in you,
and live the way of your kingdom.
May our lives show the promises,
persistence and power
of your purposes and your presence,

you remain always near to us,
ready to embrace us in your love,
ready to confirm in us your living hope,

but to show that we love you,

to nurture and nourish others,
to take the cross of self-giving
rather than bear the weight

and temptations of life,
Lord, keep us open
to the guidance
of your Holy Spirit,
keep us full of the wisdom
of your kingdom,
keep us faithful to the way
you call us to travel.
Let us put our trust
in your love
and not the love
