Give us the strength we need,
Lord Jesus, to live lives
fully committed to your kingdom;
to find our way in serving,
not being served,
to focus on the power of love,
not of self-centred politics,
to devote ourselves
to our relationship with you
and your call on us.

Lord Jesus,
entering the city in humility
to the Hosannas of the crowd,
as Pilate entered the other way
with his display of power and prestige,
keep us always focused on your kingdom,
not on the empires of the world,
that our lives may shine
the light of your love.

Fill us, Lord Jesus,
with a desire to serve one another,
and to honour those who serve us
in their leadership;
let your love be the hallmark
of our relationships
and our interactions,
that in all, we may reveal
your grace, your blessings,
and the joy of your peace.

Lord Jesus, turn our hearts
from the love of money
and the wealth of this world;
turn our gaze instead
to the treasure of your kingdom:
help us to see one another
with your eyes of love,
welcome one another
in the hospitality of your grace,
and live out your peace.

Keep us, Lord Jesus,
from the temptation
to sell the gift of your peace
for the price of the
approval and adulation
of those who pursue the goals
of power and prestige,
of personal gain and greed.
Set our hearts on
the prize of your kingdom,
the light of your love.

Be with us, Lord Jesus,
in all the ministries
and responsibilities
we accept and bear
as we seek to follow your call
and walk in your way,
that our lives may reveal
your love, your grace,
your truth, and your peace
in all we do, and to all
with whom we have to do.

Lord Jesus, help us to see
not merely with the eyes of the world,
the eyes that perceive only
the surface and the simple;
help us rather to see as you see,
to see the realities of your kingdom,
made visible by your grace,
and so reveal your hope
to a world in need.

Ever remind us, Lord Jesus,
to see the infinite value in our children,
in all the children of the world,
and in all the children of your kingdom;
for all are made in your image
and your love,
all are precious in your sight,

in the love with which
you surround and sustain us;
let us shine with its light,

faith not in our own power,
nor in the material strength
we can wield,
not in the platforms
or personalities of others,
but faith in your promises,

not only for those
who hold different views to us,
or those whom we think
should suffer your judgement,
but also for ourselves;
we are not perfect.
and yet are offered
your forgiveness and healing,
so help us offer your peace to all.

On this Feast of St Joseph, Lord Jesus,
be with all who accept and bear
responsibility in loco parentis
for children not their own.
May your love fill them,
inspiring a deep love
to flourish in their lives,
and to bear fruit
in the lives of all
for whom they care.

Fill us, Lord Jesus,
fill our hearts and minds,
our souls and spirits,
with the fullness
of your law of love;
may our lives shine
with the light of your grace,
that our way may be illumined

in the covenant made by your blood,

we are what you have made us,
bearers of your image

the pulse of your love in us,
flowing through us,

built for ourselves,
nor even on what we have
built to honour you,
but on what you have

with all that we are;

you adopt us into your family

you lived a human life,
emptying yourself
and humbling yourself
to know our needs
and weaknesses.
In your love, you offer us
understanding born of
experience and solidarity.
May we offer that same
understanding and love,
with compassion,
to one another.

be with all who are suffering
and being made to suffer,
through hardship or poverty,
isolation or loneliness,
or through the actions of others
in their greed, fear or selfishness.
Rouse us to enfold them in the love
with which you enfold and console us.

to find the rest in you
that your love and grace
promises is ours.
Keep us from straining
to prove our worth in worldly terms,
over against one another;
for our true worth is found
in your love for us, your holding us.
Give us always your peace.

Lord Jesus;
keep us ever-attentive
and ever-responsive
to your word, your wisdom,
your call, your challenge.
Let not the self-centred
desires and prejudices we have,
obscure the way you set before us.

you are faithful to the Father
in the unity of the Spirit,
for you are one God,
bound in the perfection of love.
May we be faithful to you, O God,
and faithful to your image
in us and in each person.
Build with us living stones,
a house of kingdom hope.

you open your heart to all people,
calling us your brothers and sisters,
people made in the image of God.
Prevent us from closing our hearts to others,
from choosing to see our differences
rather than all that we have in common.

you have entrusted us
with dominion over your world.
Turn our hearts to your will,
that dominion
may not become domination.
Give us hearts
for justice and mercy,
for the wellbeing of the world
and all its people,

you are not content to speak to us
by prophets alone,
rather you became
one with us and one of us,
showing us your way.
Hear our prayer for a broken world,
that the way of your kingdom may prevail,
that wars may end and peace be ours.

that knows your authority
over us and all the world,
an authority exercised
by your Spirit of love and grace,
that enters into our lives
though we, of ourselves,
are not worthy;
that forgives and restores us
to relationship with you.
