help us see
the patterns of your grace
at work in the world.
Open the ears of our hearts,
that we may be attuned
to the pulse of your kingdom,
to the rhythm of your heart.
May our lives reveal
the beauty and the beat
of your love.

in your self-giving love,
to draw us into relationship
with you and with one another.

our own love in response,

as the community of your kingdom,

with minds attuned
to your kingdom,
and hearts aligned
with your love;

that our attitudes and actions,
our words and our ways,
may be full of your grace,
your mercy, your peace.

and tear down
the barriers that we erect
between ourselves,
based on differences
that to you matter nothing;
take from us the bias
that demeans others
for who they are;
fill us instead with the love
with which you hold us all
and draw us to you.

from the temptation
to seek our worth,
or the worth of others,
in heritage or origin,
in background or upbringing;
from the temptations
of pride and prejudice.
Hold us to the truth
of your love for us
and for all people,
and free us to love like you.

help us always to walk in your light,
and shine with your light
in all that we are, all that we do.
May we shine the light
of your grace and your mercy,
the light of your justice and your peace,

to your word to us, your call upon us,
however unexpected it may be;
whether it be to take up your plans,
or lay aside our own.
Help us to hear clearly
and respond willingly,
that like Mary, our answer may be
‘Yes: your will be done’.

the sin of prejudice;
turn us from
the temptation
to judge others
because of their origin,
their background,
their differences,
or their similarity
to ourselves.
Give us open hearts,
vision to see your image in all,

that we may be
one in your love,
held by your grace,
led in your hope,
full of your life.

to the ways of your kingdom,

with your body and blood
around your altar, Lord,
so inspire us to know
more and more deeply
that we are your body

sent out
to show your love,

and nurturing
sustenance you offer
in the bread of life,

Keep us from seeking
that which will never satisfy;

to the goods of your kingdom,

by that which

Divert us from
seeking an excess
of the world’s
ephemeral goods
which cannot satisfy;
lift us to find
the lasting treasure of love

Inspire us, Lord, to follow you;
not in search of the things
our ego demands for ourselves,
but in pursuit of your call:
to join in the work of your kingdom,
to share your grace, mercy and peace with all,
to be living into and living out your love,

and the contexts
we inhabit today, Lord,
help us not to be people
who can only see the problems
inherent in our opportunities,
but to be people who see
the opportunities you offer
to meet problems
with your love,
