as Mary Magdalene
met you on Easter morn,
so we encounter
your risen life day by day
by the gift of the Holy Spirit.
Open our hearts to meet you
in the circumstances of this day
and the people we meet;
help us recognise
and celebrate
your life among us.

Lord, fill our hearts
with eagerness, readiness
and openness
to seek and to see the signs
of your living and loving presence
around us and among us this day.
Keep us attuned
to the promises and priorities
of your kingdom
that we too may be signs
of your risen life.

that we may be ready
to take the opportunities
with which you present us,
to do what is right and good,
what is loving and caring,
what makes manifest
the peace and justice
of your kingdom.
Guide us and inspire us
to show and share

to proclaim who you are,
to proclaim your
love, mercy and peace
through all that we are,
all that we say
and all that we do.
May our faith
hold us close to you,
and keep us from
using what is yours
to further our own ends.

the gift of discernment;
help us to seek not simply
what seems best for us
and for our selfish ends,
but what is in accordance
with your will,
with your kingdom,
with your love.
Take from us
our preoccupation
with peer pressure;
lead us in your hope.

to give worth
to that which is worthy,
rather than to value that
which is ultimately vain,
that which feeds the ego
yet starves the soul.
Help us prioritise your love,
and invest in each other,
in mutuality, in community,

Lord, when our propensity
is to build a world and a culture
which idolises strength and greed,
image and power,
and when our priorities rely
on overvaluing possessions
and undervaluing persons,
call us back to the truth
of your kingdom,
the priorities
of your love.

Instil in us, Lord,
the courage and faith
to follow you into the places,
situations, and contexts
where you lead us,
to live out our discipleship
hopefully and joyfully,
that your passion for justice,
your abundant grace,
your life-giving love,
may be seen in us.

You call us, Lord,
to be your disciples,
to follow your way,
to be guided by your will,
the will of love;
keep from us the temptation
to think we know better,
to follow our own ego,
our own greed,
to betray our living of your love
for one another
and for the world.

not merely as individuals,
but to be part of your family,
the community of your kingdom,
as members together
in the company of your love.
Give us your passion
for unity in our diversity;
help us embody your love,
for the world.

our identity as your people,
called to bear your image
and share your love
in and for the world.
Inspire us in the unity
to which you call us;
help us inhabit and incarnate
our relationship with you,

in revealing your glory among us
by a life of love, overcoming all
that stands in love’s way,
even death itself.
Inspire us to live your love

to both the mission
of your message,
and the mission
of social action
to benefit all.

of our identity as your people,

make us generous,
but not merely with
material things;
make us generous also
in the time and attention
we give one another,
in the relationships
we seek to build,

to you today,
that your Spirit

inclined to wander
in our journey through life, Lord,
whether physically or emotionally,
and can so easily be
distracted and deflected
from the path you call us to walk,
we thank you
that you do not stray from us,
that our home is secure in your love.

is simple yet profound;
to love one another as you love us.
Like Peter, we find this easy to say
yet so often harder to do.
Like Judas, our own ends
can so easily obscure yours.
Refresh your love in us today;
inspire us to show that love to all.

the temptation
to judge each other,
to focus on how
others betray you;
help us see
our own complicity,
for we all fall short
of Christlikeness
in our different ways.
Dispel the darkness
that clouds our vision,
guide us by the light
of your love.

to be like you
in your loving
and generous
service to others,
in your care, concern
and compassion
for all people.
Let this calling be for us
not just a duty but a joy,
as we rejoice
in the share you offer us

majesty, glory, or divinity,
but stooped down
to share our humanity,
