In your great love for us, Lord,
you emptied yourself and became
Emmanuel, God-with-us,
living a life of love in action,
that you may lead us to embrace
the life of your kingdom,
and become more and more like you
as we journey on with you.
Keep us true to your way.

to love one another
as you love us;
and yet we deny that love
in our human egotism.
Warm our hearts,
with the breath of your Spirit
and the wind of your grace,
that we may truly love you
with all that we are,
and love our neighbour

you share your bread with us,
yet we betray your love
in so many of our attitudes,
actions and aspirations.
In your love, you offer us
forgiveness, mercy,
healing and peace,

more faithful.

Lord, you choose
to invite us into your fellowship,
and welcome us as your disciples,
placing your call upon our lives
that we might join in your loving work.
Inspire our prayer
that we may listen to and follow
your wisdom and guidance,
rather than selfish desires.

Like your apostles, Lord,
you send us out into the world,
to walk and work in its streets
and the dirt and dust of the world
clings to our feet.
Give us faith to let you
wash us, heal us, and inspire us
to keep living your love
for people and places
that need you.

Lord, save us from being so wedded
to the laws we distil and devise,
that we become divorced
from the law of your love.
Keep us from being so constrained
by the rules we follow,
that we are diverted from following
your wisdom and grace.
Open our hearts to your way.

of your presence
with us day by day,
that we may recognise
and encounter
your love anew,
receive and accept

signs of despair,
guide us to
your empty tomb,
to your word which says

that divine love may absorb

not on our own

keep us mindful
of the need to care for
and consider the wellbeing of
all who carry a burden
of long term or transient
mental ill health,
and to work to create
healthy environments

about the things of your kingdom,
about your call upon our lives,
about your wisdom in our choices,
about your love for us and others.
