Help us, Lord, never to be so busy
looking for your presence and activity
in the new and the different,
that we miss what you are doing
in the people and the places
closest to us.
Let us never overlook
the possibilities of your kingdom
in those we think unlikely.

Help us to see
with the eyes of faith, Lord,
to understand your world
and your kingdom
from your perspective.
Help us to see one another
as you do;
to know that in each of us,
you see your own image,
with no exceptions.
In your love,
may we embrace
and include
all.

Nourish us, Lord, with yourself,
the bread of heaven
and bread of life.
Fill us with your love,
and satisfy our longing
for our home in you.
Gather up the broken fragments
of our lives and our world,
and bring us to your
wholeness and peace,
together as one in you.

Lord,
in all the storms of life,
help us to know
that you are with us,
and that even
the wind and waves
obey you.
Lift our eyes from our own
preoccupations and desires,
that we may focus
on your kingdom and its mission,
rejoicing at your invitation
to share in it.

Give us the courage, Lord,
to offer you what we have,
even though it may feel
little, meagre, or poor.
Give us the faith
to allow you to be the judge
of what can be done with it,
to allow you to see the potential
in what we offer you,
and to rejoice at the results.

Lord Jesus,
you affirmed
that you do nothing
apart from
the Father and the Spirit;
remind us always
that we can do nothing
apart from you.
Help us daily to open our lives
to the fire of divine love,
that we may follow your call
and shine as lights
for the Kingdom.

Keep us always mindful
of our place in your heart, Lord.
May we never seek
to work simply in our own strength,
but always be seeking
to follow your call,
finding out what you are doing
and joining in.
In all we do, say and are,
may the life you offer

and at your impact
on those around us,
even if we do not understand it.
May we never resist your working

achievement or failing
the world gives
for exclusion,
you seek us out

in your love;
slaking our thirst for life

our pilgrimage through Lent,
to keep our focus on you
and on the things of your kingdom.
Take from us
the lure of worldly things;
fill us instead
with desire for your kingdom.
Grant us true repentance;
fill our lives with your love.

Give us joy, Lord,
at your presence with us
day by day and
second by second;
give us a joy
deeper than any other,
for our bridegroom is with us;
we are invited to celebrate
at the feast of your kingdom.
May all we are,
all we say,
and all we do

as your love is reborn in us.
Give us a new understanding
of our place in your heart
and in your kingdom,
that we may share

your light which

the gifts of your kingdom;

like dull or cracked mirrors,

by showing your wounds;
marks of humanity,
healed yet not cured.
Give us an understanding
that the healing of your kingdom
is deeper that the ‘fixing’
we often look for on our terms;
so let us see your beauty
in our brokenness.

Lord, give us the joy
day by day, minute by minute,
of encountering you
in the midst of whatever we face,
of knowing you
as you speak our name
into the depths of our being.
Fill us, even in the face
of difficulty or death,
with the joy of
resurrection, love, peace.

Give us, Lord, every day,
the wonder, delight and excitement
of encountering your resurrection afresh;
may its truth
overwhelm our fears
and overcome our anxieties.
May we seek
not so much to understand it
as to live in it,
that your love, life and light
may shine.

Lord, Joseph of Arimathea
lavished his love and care,
his wellbeing and wealth,
on your body.
May we do the same
for your Body here and now,
your people.
May we offer to each person
the same love and care
that we would offer you,
as your image shines out

to tell the world
of your kingdom
and our king:
to share that news
with all people;
to show it
as well as to speak it.
May we show it
in the depth
of our relationships
as your people,

of your kingdom, Lord,
to enable us to see
your true kingship,
found not in worldly wealth,
power, status or position,
but in giving, serving, loving
and living in such a way

of comparing and ranking
our differences;
