Lord, help us
truly to be your family;
living in your love,
inspired by your Spirit.
May the signs
of your crib and cross
be ever before us;
may the revelations
of Epiphany and Easter
ever energise our faith.
As we await your coming again,
fit us to be your Church.

Give us a desire
and a passion, Lord,
to reveal you to all people;
to show in our lives
the effects of your love,
dying to self-centredness,
to serving our own interests,
and finding our true life
in loving, serving and giving
as we become more like you
day by day.

Guide us Lord;
guide our thoughts
and our actions,
that we may never let
the narrowness
of our humanity
get in the way
of the revelation
of your divinity.
Keep us from allowing our ways
to cloud your gospel and your love;
but let your light always shine
through us.

Wake us up, Lord,
to the nearness of your kingdom,
to the moments each day
when you stand ready
to break into the daily round,
with the light of your gospel,
the beacon of your love.
Help us live lives
worthy of being called
your disciples,
sharing the hope in us.

of your presence, Lord,
of the signs that reveal
your kingdom and your love.
Keep us always alert
to our opportunities
to embrace life in your name,
and to shine your light for others.
May we joyfully accept your yoke
in place of our burdens.

what you are doing
in the world all around us.
Keep us alert
to the signs
of your presence
and your activity
in and among
people, communities,
situations, and opportunities,
that we may see
the path you have prepared
before us.

that every life is precious,
regardless of class, creed,
colour, circumstance or clothing.
Remind us to value one another
as your children.
Challenge us
never to see others
as pawns for our
profit, politics or propaganda,
but to see people you love.

of your kingdom;

of love, of light, of life,

as your disciples.

that you call us by name;
that you give
vocations and ministries
to each of us,
tailored to our
unique mix of gifts
and shaped to help us
grow in your love.
Inspire us to be

to bring people into relationship
with you and with others,
to break down barriers to access
and dismantle obstacles

May we, like you,
inhabit the margins of society

that we may ever be ready
to welcome you when you come;
let the fire of your love
burn within us,
that we may never become
tepid in our faith,

to do your will

about the healing you bring us;
so much deeper
than mere ‘fixing’ or cure.
Draw us closer
into relationship with you,
that we may know your peace,
discern your call,

whatever the turbulence
and storminess of life,
that you are with us
and will never leave us,
nor forsake us.

of our citizenship in your kingdom,
and our belonging to you, our king.
As your family, your royal priesthood,

with roots that go deep
into your kingdom;
keep us anchored in your will

disregard or control others;
instead fill us with a longing

let them germinate and sprout,
grow and flourish,
that the abundance of your life

and take our focus
off those things
which make us anxious,
that we may focus instead
on your love and your kingdom,
your promises and purposes.
Set our hearts on you;
and fill us with your love and light,

and your working, Lord,
that we may notice
where your kingdom
is being further revealed
and spend our energies there.
Give us an understanding
of your call upon us
and help us to focus on it,
that we may set ourselves
upon your will.

Let our watchword be love, Lord;
let us be bringers and builders of peace
among people, within communities,
across societies, between nations.
May the peace of your kingdom
infuse our hearts, our minds,
our deepest being;
so may your healing
flow through us
to all.

with the flavour of your kingdom,
that we may season
the world around us
and reveal the savour
of life in your love;
grant that we may
shine your light
and show your love
to all around us,
and inspire people
to ‘taste and see
that the Lord is good!’

with your blessings;
may we rejoice and celebrate
that they are not merely
the blessings of the world,
but the upside-down-yet-right-way-up

As you undo the mighty
and lift up the lowly,

with the material concerns of life, Lord,
and free us from the anxiety
which can grip us so tightly;
release our souls into your life;
and as we open our lives to you,
fill us with your peace
and assure us of your promises

our minds
and our hearts,
that we may be ready to perceive
the light of your kingdom
as you shine in our darkness.
As your light reveals your way,
illuminating the paths
you call us to travel,
so give us grace
to turn and follow.

Take from us, Lord,
the temptation to find
our identity, worth or purpose
in things which are passing;
help us to sit light
to the security of possessions
and worldly wealth;
help us to eschew power
for its own sake
and for selfish gain;
help us give you the glory.

As we journey
through this day, Lord,
keep us faithful
to our baptismal calling,
that we may shine your light
into all the world.
Fill us anew with your Holy Spirit,
and let our hearts resound
with your word to us:
“You are my child, my beloved;
in you, I delight.”

when we begin to react
to events and contexts
out of our own selfish
passions and purposes.
Help us instead
always to pause
and seek your will,
your guidance,
that we may instead
choose a kingdom response,
and thereby reveal your love.

that we may never
be unable to embrace
the new things you are doing,
never afraid of the blessings
you bring into our world,
never against the emergence
of your kingdom.
Keep us attentive;
ready to hear your leading,
ready to follow.
