Nurture in us, Lord,
such an openness to your Spirit,
that we may understand
the plans you have,
for our Iives and our world,
and be ready to discern and to follow
your calling upon us today.
Give us such an assurance of your love,
that we cannot help but share it.

Inspire us, Lord,
by your infinite and intimate
concern and care for all people.
Your plan and purpose
is that all should flourish
and know life in abundance;
not that some should prosper
while others perish.
Help us to see others
as you see them,
and cherish all.

Work on us, Lord;
keep the eyes and ears
of our hearts and minds
open to the way of your kingdom,
the working of your Spirit.
Expand our understanding
of your love and of its wide embrace,
that we may seek
not to exclude or turn away,
but to offer that love to all.

Make us eager, Lord,
to encounter and
to welcome you this day;
help us to respond
to your love with our own,
to offer to the work of your kingdom
what we have and who we are,
that the grace you pour into our lives
may be shared with others,
for the blessing of all.

Give us such a desire for you, Lord,
that our hearts cry out, our souls yearn,
to spend time with you.
Give us grace in our prayer,
that we may never
assume or presume what to pray,
but be ready to listen, to learn, to love,
as we share your blessings with others.

Lord, save us from those things
that frustrate our following you,
not least the obstacles we find
in our own character, context or culture.
Help us not to be bound
by our desire for boundaries,
possessed by our lust to possess,
or controlled by our yen for control.

Guide us by your Spirit, Lord,
and help us to remain
open to that guidance,
that we may let you
mould us for your mission
and grow us into your grace.
Help us to develop
such an honesty and humility
in our prayers,
that we may be ready
to listen, to learn, to love.

Give us, Lord,
the grace, the faith,
the strength, the courage,
to live in the light
of your kingdom,
of your coming,
of your being among us day by day.
Lead us by your Spirit,
that we may embody your love
in our living,
sharing the blessings you give us,
with all.

As pilgrims on the way of faith,
the way of your kingdom, Lord,
give us wisdom for the journey;
keep us always open
to the guidance of your Spirit,
that we may travel well,
with care and concern
for our fellow pilgrims,
and for those who do not yet
journey with us.

Give us, Lord,
an awareness and appreciation
of the healing we experience in you;
for we were far off
and you welcomed us home,
lost and you sought us out.
Draw us closer to you each day
and fill us with your reconciling love,
that we might share it with the world.

Mould us, Lord,
that we may develop and display
a Christlike character and capacity
to understand, to forgive,
to encourage and enable those around us
to find and follow your way
of love and mercy,
justice and peace.
Give us a foundation of faith
and help us build.

Give us, Lord, the gifts
of awareness and empathy,
that we may approach
and engage with the situations
and circumstances of others
through the lens of your love.
Help us both to see your image
in one another,
and to recognise
how we would fare
in the other’s place.

Fill us with desire, Lord,
for treasure and wealth,
but not the passing treasures
and fleeting wealth
of material things;
give us rather desire
for your kingdom,
your peace, your love,
a desire to invest them
in one another,
to bring growth
for the blessing of all.

Remind us and
reassure us, Lord,
that even though
we stray from your path,
even though we wander far off
in pursuit of our own
desires and dreams,
you remain constant,
your love for us unfailing,
your arms wide open
to welcome us home.
May we show that love to all.

Thank you, Lord,
that to you, each of us
is precious and treasured;
no-one has mere
collateral or conditional value,
for we are all loved.
Help us reflect this truth:
in the attitudes we adopt and accept,
the choices and decisions we make,
the priorities we pursue.

Father God, hear us
as we give thanks and pray for
all those who have reflected
your guiding and nurturing love
into our lives,
and for all those into whose lives
you call us to reflect that love.
May we show your fatherly care to others,
and know your care for us.

that helps people enjoy
the flavour of your kingdom,
to savour your love,
to relish the gift of new life.
Keep us from
the blandness of indifference,
but keep us also from bringing
so much of our own agenda,
that we obscure your grace.

So often, Lord, we direct
our care and concern,
our energies and efforts,
to the issues and people
who are important to us,
to those in whom
we can see ourselves;
open our eyes, our minds
and our hearts
to those that are important to you,
in whom we see your image.

Cultivate within us, Lord,
a full measure of your grace,
a deep wellspring of your wisdom,
a solid foundation of faith,
and a Christlike character of humility;
may we meet the world
and engage with others,
not through the lens of our ego,
but the lens of your love.

Lord, keep our focus
on your call and your kingdom;
keep us from letting
our own cleverness
obscure your wisdom,
from letting our own
preferences and prejudices
obscure your promises
or your prophets.
Keep us ever
open to your will,
drawn by your hope,
led by love.

Give us such grace, Lord,
such love for you
and for one another,
that like Barnabas, we may offer
what we have, and what we are,
in your service;
may our lives encourage others
to know you, to follow you,
to be filled with, and to live out,
your love for the world.

Lord,

enthuse and enable us
to be fruitful for your kingdom,
flourishing in faith.
Remind us, however,
that even if we fail,
your love never does;
in your constancy,
you draw us ever closer
and enfold us in your life,

that we are
citizens of your kingdom,
ambassadors for your gospel;
in the face of
welcome or opposition,

a passion for,
and a commitment to,
your love, your justice,
your mercy, your truth,

May the things
of your kingdom

as stewards of your treasures;

Heal our propensity
to hoard for ourselves
the goods of your creation

from the temptation to seek
our status and security,
our wealth and worth,
in fleeting things;
money, possessions,
power, and prestige.
Teach us rather
to know our value
by the place we hold
in your heart;
by showing
your love for us,
to one another.

Lord, you know us inside out;
our good points and our bad,
our strengths and our weaknesses,
our outward image
and our secret thoughts;
you love us deeply anyway.
Work in us
that we may reflect your love
more and more
in everything that we are,
in the life we live.

Lord, give us grace
to respond to those
who would place
obstacles in the way
of our pursuing your mission,
with the same love
that you pour into our lives;
keep us ready and willing
to give an account
of our faith in you,
by what we say,
what we do,
and who we are.
