Make us ready, Lord Jesus,
to respond to a world
that needs so much
to know you,
to know your mercy and justice,
to know your love and peace.
May the world that needs to see you,
see your Spirit and your love in us,
and may we see your image
in each person we meet.

Fill us, Lord,
with watchfulness
and wakefulness,
openness and obedience,
to be awake
to your presence with us,
your coming to us day by day
in the gift of your Holy Spirit,
and to your coming again
to bring the fullness
of your kingdom.
Make us ready
to greet you.

Lord Jesus,
give us ears and eyes,
hearts and minds
to understand
your call upon us
to follow the way
of your kingdom;
and when we wander off
and lose our way,
to heed your call
to turn back to you,
bringing our burdens
to exchange for
the easy weight
of your love.

Give us the curiosity, Lord,
to ponder and reflect
on our part in your mission,
the bringing of
your life and love
to the people
and communities
we serve.
Let us seek not the comfort
of the cocoons we build
for ourselves,
but the call and challenge
of your kingdom.

You call us, Lord Jesus,
to follow you,
and be sent out by you
into the world
to share your love
in our words, works and ways.
Give us the faith and courage
to meet what we find
in grace and peace,
guided by you
in all we think, say and do,
bringing all your peace.

each of us personally and by name,
better than we know ourselves.
You call us to follow you,
to follow the way of your kingdom,
to follow your summons
into your work and mission.
Help us in our openness to your call,
and the sharing of your love.

When we struggle, Lord,
with the circumstances
and pressures of life,
when issues are overwhelming,
when we cannot see the way ahead,
and when hope seems extinct,
remind us of your presence with us,
that we may reach out to you
in the assurance of your love for us.

Lord Jesus,
you are king of all creation;
inspire us to open ourselves
to your kingship in our lives.
Guide us to learn your way
of servant leadership,
shepherd-king,
that as you care for us
and lead us to pastures
good for our souls,
so we too may
model your love.

Convict us Lord Jesus,
of our need for wholeness in you.
Give us the self-awareness
and humility
to prostrate ourselves
before you
and offer what in us
needs your healing touch.
As we lay before you our sins,
may we hear your
loving forgiveness
and know your peace.

When we are beset, Lord,
by turmoil within and without,
buffeted by the storms around us
and driven by fears inside us,
reassure us of your presence with us
and of your love for us,
of your power and your peace,
that we may be drawn by hope,
and sustained by grace.

Lord Jesus,
fill us with a longing
and a passion
to see your healing
in our lives
and in the lives
of those we encounter,
near and far;
not merely in
the fixing of physical issues,
but by the gift of wholeness
in relationship with you,
that all may know
your peace.

Lord Jesus, inspire us
to come to you day by day,
bringing that in us
which needs the healing,
the wholeness, the peace,
the shalom of your love.
As you renew and refresh us
in the new life of your kingdom,
give us the strength and courage
to show you to the world.

Lord, keep our focus
on the way of your kingdom,
that we may not be diverted
by other preoccupations;
may we listen to your voice
and be fed by your Spirit,
that we may build our lives in you,
and bear the good fruit
of your wisdom, justice,
mercy, peace, and love.

Keep us, Lord,
from becoming so consumed
by our own ego and self-justification,
that we see only the faults of others
and not our own;
give us the desire
to seek wisdom and truth,
that our lives may be lived
as expressions of your love,
bearing your grace for all.

Fill us, Lord,
with such desire
for your kingdom,
for its ways, for its culture,
for its laws of love,
for its justice and its peace,
that we seek diligently
for its revelation to us,
and live our lives in a way
that reveals it to others
and shows your love to all.

our understanding of your love
and the boundless depths
of your care for us;
help to to place our
anxieties and worries
into your hands,
knowing that
you reach out
to embrace and hold us
in the promise
and assurance
of your life, joy

to open ourselves to you;
to open our souls
and be filled with your love,
such that it overflows
to the people and
the world around us;

to hear your call
to the life and work
of your kingdom,

the wisdom and courage
to meet injustice
not with a desire
for revenge and retribution,
but with the strength
to expose it, name it,
and shame it.
Guide us not to play evil
at its own game,
but to show to all the way
of your justice, peace and love.

Keep us, Lord,
from pretending
that our discipleship
is a matter simply
of keeping the rules,
doing our duty,
ticking the boxes
on a heavenly appraisal form.
Inspire us instead to live
from the motivation of love,
to offer all that we are
in revealing your kingdom.

Lord,
you call us to be salt;
not to be hoarded
for our own benefit,
but spread abroad
to be the savour of life
in love, peace and justice.
You call us to be light;
not to be hidden,
but to illuminate the world
with the light of your kingdom,
drawing hearts to you.

Bless us, Lord, with a spirit
that serves not our ego and image,
but the way of your love.
Inspire us to mourn
the injustice and inequity
of the world;
to harness our abilities
to the work of your kingdom.

to be makers and builders

grant us courage

from your way;

from the pride
and passion for power
that pervades our world;
from the tantrums of those
who trump their own ego,

Help us always
to show your love

for you were a refugee
in the land of Egypt.

with signs of your kingdom;
signs of hope, and peace,
signs of justice, and mercy,
signs of your call and challenge
to pursue the way of your love.
Help us to follow
in the way that you lead,

a decision or a dilemma,
help us to rely not only
on our own perspectives,
on the pressures from our peers,
or on the norms of our culture;
help us instead to listen
for your guidance and wisdom,
that we may be led by you
in the way of your love.

disciples drawn from
every tribe and language,
every nation and place.
Help us to serve you in prayer
and in action and fellowship,
with sisters and brothers
from near and far
in the diversity and wholeness
of the church you call us to be.

offering to us love and life,
mercy and peace.
You journey with us
by the gift of your Holy Spirit,
