Lord, when we face
the trials and temptations
we encounter in life,
help us to do so
with openness to your Spirit,
with a readiness to be
guided, steered, directed
by your wisdom;
keep us attentive
to your voice,
and strong in our faith,
firmly following your way.

not only with desire
to hear your voice,
but also with willingness
and openness
to listen,
to be enthused
and encouraged,
changed and challenged,
by what you have to say to us.
Keep us ready to respond
to your call upon us,
surprising as it may seem.

and demands are many,
when what others want from us
is more than we can offer,
when our heads and hearts
are full of the things
we would like to do,
but our resource is stretched,
then guide us,
give us wisdom,
help us find
our peace
in you.

help us remember
the heroes of our faith;
those who are well known,
whose deeds are recorded,
and those whose names
we will never know
yet whose legacy in faith
we enjoy.
As they surround us
with their prayers,
may we live our faith fully,
and inspire others.

Saturate our lives, Lord,
with your healing presence;
pour your love into us
to transform those things
which constrain our living
the life you intend for us
and which have us in their grip;
free us from all that seeks
division and conflict,
and bring us your peace.

the good news we proclaim,
for our communities
and for society;
to bring the savour
of your kingdom
to bear on the lives
of those around us:
not merely relieving symptoms,
but healing to the root of issues,
and peace and justice for all.

to be open to your guidance,
to hear and discern your calling,
to respond in faith,
to share your good news
and reveal your kingdom
where we are
and where you send us.
Ignite our hearts,
that we may be
beacons of your love.

that our words and deeds,
our living and loving,
may point always to you,
to your presence,
to your purposes,
to your promises;

that we might find
our identity and security in you,
and not over against others;
may we don the armour
of your kingdom
not to isolate ourselves
from each other,
but from that
which seeks to turn
disagreements into division,

consciously in your presence,
simply being ourselves before you.
Help us to listen,
to keep our hearts open
to hear your word to us,
that we may build our lives,
all that we do, all that we are,
on the foundation of your love.

our passion
for your kingdom,
our hunger to be fed
in the depths of our being,
by the nourishment for our souls
that only you can offer.
Open our hearts to your word,
and our eyes to your presence,
as we encounter you this day
on our journey together.

instil in us
your gifts of faith and fortitude,
attentiveness and awareness,
that we may be alert to you;
help us to recognise
your presence among us,
your activity in our midst,
and to respond
with all that we are

in the revealing
of your kingdom.

for signs of your presence
and your guidance, Lord;
whether a chorus of angels
or your still, small voice.
Give us the grace and the faith

a disciple’s faith,
that we may follow
your lead and your will,
even when it takes us
out of our comfort zone,

to your presence
with us and among us,
and inspire us
to follow in your way;
that we may share
in your commitment
to see the justice and peace
of your kingdom prevail,

leading, guiding and calling,
that is engaged in seeking
to understand your will,

deepen our relationship with you.

Divert us from those things

limits on your love

may the foundation of our lives
be not philosophies or theories,
statements or sophistries,

try as we might
to live right,
it’s never long
before we go wrong;
our propensity
to turn in on ourselves
and away from others
and from you,
is strong;
often stronger
than our will to resist.
By your grace in our lives,
forgive and strengthen us.

Lord, you promised Abraham
that through him
all the nations of the earth
would be blessed.
In faith, he believed and trusted.
You make us heirs of the promise;
strengthen our faith and trust,
that we may be
channels of your blessing
to the world
and all its people.

Through your cross
and resurrection, Lord,
our life is assured;
not merely for now,
but for eternity;
our participation
in your kingdom
is guaranteed,
the victory of your love
over anything that would
keep us from you,
even death itself,
is sure.
Fill up our faith.

we see one another
and we see ourselves,
as merely the seed;
whereas you see in us
the potential for growth
into your kingdom
and into your life
that your love yearns
to bring forth in us
and through us.
Nourish us, tend us,
and help us to flourish.

whatever we might face
and have to deal with,
remind us that we meet
every situation,
every opportunity,

as members of your body,
disciples in your way,
children of your resurrection,
envoys of your kingdom.

on your purposes;
guide us by the wisdom of your Spirit,
that we may follow your way
and be subject to your will.
Make us part of your project
of love, life and light,
ambassadors of the new reality
that burst from your empty tomb.

Your resurrection, Lord,
changes the world,
changes the universe.
Inspire us not merely to seek
to believe this intellectually,
not merely to seek
to understand it theologically,
but to seek to live it joyfully,
reveal it continually
and show it daily
in our lives.
