Lord,
in the face
of human pride
and earthly glory,
of the schemes of the ego
and the machinations
of greed, power,
envy and fear,
fill us with your grace
that we may respond
not in kind,
but rather with
the love and life
of your kingdom,
shining the light
of hope.
