Save us, Lord,
from the power
and pride
of the ego,
whether our own
or that of others.
Save us from
its temptations
to save face
ahead of
standing firm
for your kingdom
or showing love
to our neighbour;
save us from
focusing in
on ourselves
rather than
on your way.
