Defend us, Lord,
from the temptation
to find our identity
and security
in worldly things.
Keep our hearts
firmly fixed
on you and
your kingdom,
that we may bound
not by the pursuits
of the ego,
but by the pursuit
of love for you
and neighbour,
the pursuit
of peace.
