In our sinfulness, Lord,
we are tempted
to build our empires,
to exalt ourselves,
to worship gods
of wealth, status,
or power.
Open our eyes
to your kingdom,
to your light
and life
and love;
inspire us
to give of ourselves
for the blessing of others,
to your glory.
